GA/EP Notes: EC1 Chapters 1 Through 4
I started the next book in my GA/EP series. This is a bunch of smallish essays on evolutionary computation - we'll see how this material pans out.
Chapter 1 is a brief introduction to evolutionary computation: why it's used (optimization and adaptation) and what it's based on (biological concepts). Chapter 2 discusses where EC is applied, such as problems like routing and scheduling. It also mentioned using ECs for design and simulations. Chapter 3 talks about where ECs don't work very well. Chapter 4 defines the basic principles in evolution, such as selection, adaptation and diversity.
Basically, I haven't covered anything computer-specific just yet in this book, but that's fine. You need to cover the basics first.
