"The Darkness That Comes Before"
I finished this book last night. Originally, I was really excited to read this book, as the material seemed very rich in detail. However, the more I read it, the more I felt bogged down by the detail. It seemed like the author wanted to throw in some new historical detail in every sentence, and it quickly got to be too much. I also found the characters to be hard to latch on to. I'm not saying I need a "good"/"bad" thing going on in every book I read, but right now I don't know who the hell is worth rooting for (if anyone). Plus, the women are fairly weak and timid - they let themselves get treated like crap, and I don't like that. All that said, I think I'll read the other two books in the series. Even though it seems like a very complex story, near the end I eventually started to get a hang of what was going on, so I'll start read the 2nd one once I get done with "Roadshow".
