Just Ignore It

Other blogs are reporting that someone who has been active in .NET has decided to no longer use it. I've decided not to divulge his identity in my blog [1], and I encourage you to not continue discussion about this. Why? Because, as "The Simpson's" said in one of their Halloween episodes, "Just Don't Look." Really, who the hell cares if someone decides to use or not use a technology? I've got better things to do than care about the decisions of another. If you want to move to another technology, then just do it. Don't make such a big deal out of it; just move on.

People have the right to say what they want to say. And I respect this person as I've talked to him in e-mails before and he seems like a decent guy. But I've never understood why people make such a big deal about what technology they use to move the bits around, or, more to the point, when they decide to try a new way to flip the bits. As human conversations and interactions go, you learn by being part of a community. There's just something about this that I don't quite get - why does one feel the need to discuss at great length why they don't want to use .NET anymore?

[1] Again, if you follow .NET blogs, you'll know who I'm talking about. It's not super-secret information, just something I don't want to link to here.
