"The Kings of New York"

I finished this book before I left for the West Coast a week ago. It's basically a book about a high school chess club that has lots of national championships and recognition. The book doesn't focus a lot on the chess aspect of the members; it spend its time on how the club started, the atmosphere of the school and the community and the personas of the team members.

Overall it was an interesting book. It didn't really grab me from start to finish, but I've been on a chess kick as of late so I was hoping for more details on the games. The author does a good job illustrating the dilemnas players and coaches have to face with chess: nobody really makes any good money on the game, but there's just something appealing about the game that keeps drawing people in year after year.
